CICLO DE LA VIDA

Symbol of the beginning of the human existence cycle.

Illustration & Mixed Media.

This visual work was created as part of the HONOR Talents competition for HONOR, a Chinese technology company specializing in smart devices like smartphones, tablets, and wearable technology.
HONOR Talents is an initiative designed to empower youth and discover young talents in various artistic and design disciplines.

The competition was promoted by Tecnológico de Monterrey to encourage students to represent Mexico. I participated in the category focused on designing wallpapers for mobile devices, choosing from themes such as emerging cities, pandas, and renewal of life, among others.

Introduction

The artwork explores the exact moment where everything begins: the fertilization of a cell, symbolizing the start of the cycle of existence.
Within this cell, theories and ideologies about the origin of life converge—from DNA and religion to chakra energy and space-time concepts.
It also highlights our intrinsic connection with the Earth, reminding us that, like our planet, we are made of microorganisms and are part of a shared cycle beyond our differences.

Creative Process

Choosing the theme "Renewal of Life," I began by reflecting on how this concept is perceived in society.
From these reflections, I conceptualized the main ideas for my written piece, visualizing how these beliefs could transform into a visually compelling and meaningful artwork.

The creative process included:

  • Deep reflection and conceptualization of the theme

  • Brainstorming ways to visually depict movement and cycles

  • Final design execution

The final piece is a mixed media composition that blends sketches, slow-motion photography, digital illustration, and artificial intelligence tools.
Integrating AI allowed me to broaden the concept of life's renewal, portraying the invisible yet constant cycles that govern existence in a visually captivating way.

Recognitions

Thanks to this project, I received the "Major Innovation Award" at the exhibition organized by the Design program and the Student Society at Tecnológico de Monterrey.
